Arena team returning to Las Vegas
Aug 22, 2014 - 5:47 PM Cleveland, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - The Arena Football League is returning to Las Vegas.AFL commissioner Jerry B. Kurz on Friday announced a new franchise for Las Vegas starting next year. The team will called the Outlaws and will be owned by rock star Vince Neil.
"The opportunity came up to bring a franchise to Las Vegas and that's where I'm from," said Neil in a video statement on Friday at the Arena Bowl's media day in Cleveland. "Every guy wants to be an 'outlaw,' so why not give them the Outlaws?"
It will be the third Arena team in Las Vegas. The first team was the Sting in 1994 and the New Jersey Gladiators relocated to the city in 2003 before leaving for Cleveland in 2007.
"Las Vegas is a market that has always been in our plans," said Kurz on Friday. "It was just a matter of finding the right ownership group. We believe Vince Neil and his partners are that group and we could not be more excited to now be able to bring Arena Football back to our great fans in Las Vegas."
Cleveland will play Arizona for the Arena title on Saturday night.
