MEXICO CITY (Ticker) -- Edgar Sosa retained his WBC light flyweight title on Saturday, defeating Sonny Boy Jaro via unanimous decision at the Arena Mexico.
The scores were 117-110, 118-109 and 117-110 in favor of Sosa (33-5, 17 KOs), who defended his belt for the sixth time.
A native of the Philippines, Jaro (28-7-5) was dominated for most of the night but knocked down the champion in the 12th round with a left hook. The Mexican recovered and survived the rest of the round to win his 21st straight fight.
The loss snapped a three-fight winning streak for Jaro, who has dropped both of his title bouts.
