TORONTO (Ticker) -- Buck Pierce threw two touchdown passes as the B.C. Lions clinched a playoff berth with a 24-20 victory over the Toronto Argonauts.
Charles Roberts added a one-yard touchdown plunge for the Lions (9-5), who will be joined in Grey Cup playoffs by the Calgary Stampeders. Calgary punched its ticket to the postseason with Toronto's loss.
It will be the 12th straight playoff berth for B.C., which took a 24-17 lead after three quarters thanks to Pierce's 13-yard connection with O'Neil Wilson in the first quarter, Roberts' run in the second quarter, and Pierce's 10-yard strike to running back Stefan Logan in third. Pierce's toss to Logan capped the scoring for the Lions.
Pierce was 15-of-22 for 169 yards. Logan had 18 carries for 144 yards for B.C., which racked up 394 yards of total offense. Roberts ran for 19 yards on five carries, including his short TD run.
Former NFL kicker Mike Vanderjagt booted two field goals for Toronto (4-10), which is out of playoff contention.
