SASKATCHEWAN 45, TORONTO 38 ---------------------------

TORONTO (Ticker) -- Neal Hughes scored on a two-yard run with 12 seconds remaining to cap a wild rally as the Saskatchewan Roughriders recorded a 45-38 triumph over the Toronto Argonauts.

Hughes' score came on a drive that was set up following a botched fake punt on third down by Toronto. Fullback Bryan Campbell fumbled a direct snap and turned the ball over at the Argonauts' 30-yard line. A pass interference penalty moved the ball to the 2, setting the stage for Hughes.

Saskatchewan outscored Toronto, 28-7, in the final quarter to overcome a 31-17 deficit.

Quarterback Michael Bishop threw four interceptions, but ran for three of the Roughriders' six rushing touchdowns in the game.

Saskatchewan (12-6) took over second place in the West with the victory. If the Calgary Stampeders (12-5) defeat the B.C. Lions (11-6) on Saturday, the Roughriders will host the Lions in the conference semifinal on November 8. Should B.C. win, it will host Saskatchewan.

Toronto quarterback Kerry Joseph, a former Roughrider, was 25-of-38 passing for 307 yards and a career-best five touchdowns. It wasn't enough to prevent the Argonauts (4-14) from losing their ninth straight game.

This marks the first season Toronto hasn't made the playoffs since 2001.
