Blue Bombers fire coach Berry
Nov 12, 2008 - 7:33 PM WINNIPEG, Manitoba (Ticker) -- The Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Wednesday fired head coach Doug Berry.Winnipeg won six of its last eight games to finish 8-10 and in second place in the East Division this season. The team went 27-26-1 in three seasons under Berry, who was the 26th head coach in franchise history.
"This move has been made in what the club believes is in the best interest of the on-field product," said Lyle Bauer, president and CEO of the Blue Bombers. "We thank Doug for his contribution over the past three years and wish him the best in the future."
The Blue Bombers' season ended with a 29-21 home loss to the Edmonton Eskimos.
