CARY, North Carolina (Ticker) -- Jay Haas is looking to maintain his points lead over Bernhard Langer at the $2.1 million SAS Championship which starts on Friday at Prestonwood Country Club.

Haas currently enjoys a 139-point lead in the Charles Schwab Cup heading into this weekend's PGA Champions Tour event. The American has won two events - the Senior PGA Championship and the The Principal Charity Classic - while posting 11 top-10 finishes through 16 tournaments this season.

The 51-year-old Langer leads the money list and is scheduled to play all but one of the remaining five Champions Tour events.

Haas finished tied for third and Langer was seventh at the Tradition in August. That allowed the 54-year-old Haas to return to the top spot in the points race.

Haas finished tied for ninth at this event last year, eight strokes behind winner Mark Wiebe, who shot a 198 for the the three-day event to win by three strokes.

Fred Funk, 269 points back in third place, also is in the field this weekend.

First prize is $315,000.
