Sorenstam stumbles in final event
Dec 13, 2008 - 7:47 PM DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (Ticker) - Annika Sorenstam may not get her fairy tale ending at the Dubai Ladies Masters.The leader after 36 holes, Sorenstam carded a 3-over-par 75 during Saturday's third round to drop four shots behind front-running Anja Monke.
The 37-year-old Swede, who is the two-time defending champion of this event, sits at 5-under 211 in this her in her final competitive event before stepping away from the sport.
Though she has not used the word "retirement," Sorenstam announced in May that she was leaving the game at the end of the year to start a family and devote more time to business pursuits.
Tied for sixth, Sorenstam has a tough road ahead if she hopes go out a winner.
Iben Tinning and Veronica Zorzi are tied for second place at 7-under - two shots back of Monke - and Sophie Gustafson and Laura Davies are in the mix at 6-under.
No one has shouted yet.
