Sizemore sits again for Indians

Apr 28, 2008 - 10:16 PM CLEVELAND (Ticker) -- For the second straight day, center fielder Grady Sizemore was not in the starting lineup for the Cleveland Indians due to a sprained right ankle.

Sizemore suffered the injury while sliding into second base in the ninth inning of Saturday's 4-3 victory over the New York Yankees. He did not play on Sunday, ending his streak of 382 consecutive games.

Sizemore, who had the longest active games played streak in the major leagues, missed his first contest since August 22, 2005.

The longest active streak now belongs to Atlanta's Jeff Francoeur, who played in his 351st straight game Sunday.

Sizemore, 25, is batting .266 with two home runs, 12 RBI and a team-leading seven stolen bases this season.

Franklin Gutierrez will replace Sizemore in center field for Monday's four-game series finale against the Yankees.

Gutierrez is batting just .227 with two homers and nine RBI in 23 games for the Indians this season.
