Braves to place trio on disabled list

Jul 7, 2008 - 3:46 AM ATLANTA (Ticker) - A 17-inning win over the Houston Astros on Sunday wasn't the only thing that took its toll on the Atlanta Braves.

Braves manager Bobby Cox announced after Sunday's game that relievers Jeff Bennett and Manny Acosta and utility man Omar Infante all will be placed on the 15-day disabled list before the team opens a three-game series at the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday night.

Acosta suffered a strained left hamstring in the 16th inning of Sunday's game. Infante also strained a hamstring in the second inning Sunday, forcing him from the contest.

Bennett suffered a subluxated right shoulder during Saturday's game for Atlanta, which already has six pitchers on the disabled list.

Bennett and Acosta each have made 41 appearances this season. Bennett is 1-4 with two saves and a 4.28 ERA while Acosta is 3-5 with three saves and a 4.02 ERA.

Infante is batting .282 with one home runs and 11 RBI.
