Reds place Harang on DL, recall Bailey

Jul 13, 2008 - 5:12 PM MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- The Cincinnati Reds made a pair of moves to their rotation Sunday, placing righthander Aaron Harang on the 15-day disabled list and recalling righthander Homer Bailey from the minor leagues.

Cincinnati's leader in wins each of the previous three seasons, Harang was placed the DL due to forearm tightness. The move is retroactive to Wednesday.

Harang has struggled in 2008, going 3-11 with a 4.76 ERA in 20 games - 19 starts.

Considered the top pitching prospect in the Reds' system, Bailey was recalled from Class AAA Louisville for the second time this season. He will start Sunday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Bailey, 22, was severly overmatched in his previous promotion, giving up 15 runs - 12 earned - and 16 in 12 1/3 innings in losing all three of his starts.

The seventh overall pick in 2004, Bailey is 4-5 with a 6.40 ERA in 12 starts dating to 2007.
