Reds RHP Fogg to miss start after getting hit in face
Jul 23, 2008 - 3:55 PM CINCINNATI (Ticker) -- Cincinnati Reds pitcher Josh Fogg will miss his next scheduled start after being hit in the face with a ball during batting practice, the team announced Wednesday.Fogg was scheduled to start Friday's series opener against the Colorado Rockies. Instead, All-Star Edinson Volquez and Homer Bailey will each be bumped up a day, with Sunday's starter yet to be determined.
Fogg, 31, received 30 stitches to his upper lip after being hit in the face with a ball during batting practice prior to Tuesday's game against the San Diego Padres.
Reds' rookie first baseman Joey Votto was taking his swings when Fogg was hit The righthander walked off the field with a towel over his face.
In his first season with Cincinnati, Fogg is 2-2 with a 7.09 ERA in 14 games - seven starts - this season.
