PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- The New York Mets purchased the contract of righthander Nelson Figueroa from Class AAA New Orleans on Wednesday.
New York also recalled catcher Robinson Cancel, optioned second baseman Argenis Reyes to New Orleans and placed catcher Ramon Castro on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right quad.
Figueroa pitched in nine games - six starts - for the Mets earlier in the season, going 2-3 with a 5.12 ERA.
Cancel has hit .233 (7-for-30) with one home run and four RBI in 17 games with the Mets this season.
Castro was injured during Tuesday night's devastating 8-7 loss in 13 innings to the Philadelphia Phillies.
New York led by seven runs early before blowing the game and falling one-half game behind Philadelphia in the National League East. The 32-year-old Castro was batting .242 with seven home runs for the Mets.
Reyes appeared in 38 games for New York, hitting .250 with one homer and 11 runs scored.
