Pujols named NL Player of the Week
Sep 29, 2008 - 7:37 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Albert Pujols made one last push for the National League MVP Award.The St. Louis Cardinals' first baseman was named the NL Player of the Week on Monday.
Pujols posted a .588 (10-for-17) batting average with three home runs and 10 RBI last week. He homered in three consecutive games from September 25-27.
A six-time All-Star, Pujols batted .357 with 37 blasts and 116 RBI this season.
Four of Pujols' teammates, Troy Glaus, Cesar Izturis, Felipe Lopez and Ryan Ludwick, were among the 23 other players considered for the weekly honor.
