DENVER (Ticker) -- The Colorado Rockies on Tuesday announced the return of pitching coach Bob Apodaca and first base coach Glenallen Hill for the 2009 season.
Apodaca, the sixth pitching coach in team history, will be back for his seventh season with the club. The Rockies had three 10-game winners in Aaron Cook (16-9), Ubaldo Jimenez (12-12) and Jorge De La Rosa (10-8) in 2008 and established a franchise record with a 4.32 ERA.
Also on Tuesday, the Rockies announced that hitting coach Alan Cockrell, third base coach Mike Gallego and bench coach Jamie Quirk will not be offered contracts for the 2009 season.
Under Cockrell, the Rockies were sixth in the National League in batting this past season with a team average of .263.
