Cards 1B Pujols undergoes surgery

LOUIS (Ticker) -- St. Louis Cardinals slugger Albert Pujols underwent surgery on his right elbow Monday.The surgery, which was performed by Cardinals team physician Dr. George Paletta, included decompression and transposition of the ulnar nerve. The procedure did not require reconstruction of the medial collateral ligament.
Pujols, who will begin his rehabilitation this week, is expected to be ready for spring training in March.
Pujols, 28, showed no signs of the injury this season, and is a leading candidate to win his second MVP award after hitting .357 with 37 homers and 116 RBI in 148 games.
