Athletics name Gallego third-base coach

Oct 22, 2008 - 8:06 PM OAKLAND, California (Ticker) -- Mike Gallego, a member of the Oakland Athletics' World Series-winning team in 1989, was named the club's third-base coach Wednesday.

The move completes manager Bob Geren's coaching staff.

Gallego, who played eight years in Oakland, spent the last four seasons as the third base and infield coach for the Colorado Rockies, who made their first World Series appearance in 2007.
