Royals release RHP Wells
Oct 24, 2008 - 6:55 PM KANSAS CITY, Missouri (Ticker) -- The Kansas City Royals on Friday released pitcher Kip Wells.A 31-year-old righthander, Wells went 0-1 with an 8.71 ERA in 10 relief appearances for the Royals after being claimed off waivers on August 19.
The Royals also announced Friday that they have claimed pitcher Jairo Cuevas off waivers from the Atlanta Braves.
The 24-year-old Cuevas underwent season-ending surgery on his right shoulder on August 22, after making seven appearances in the Braves' farm system in 2008.
