Dodgers retain entire coaching staff for 2009
Oct 25, 2008 - 12:39 AM LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Los Angeles Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti announced on Friday the team has retained its entire coaching staff under manager Joe Torre for the 2009 campaign.The list includes bench coach Bob Schaefer, third base coach Larry Bowa, first base coach Mariano Duncan, pitching coach Rick Honeycutt, hitting coach Don Mattingly and bullpen coach Ken Howell.
Coach Manny Mota will be back for his 30th season, while special instructor Jeff Pentland was also retained.
Los Angeles went 84-78 and won the National League West Division before earning its first postseason victory since 1988. After sweeping the favored Chicago Cubs in the NL Division Series, the Dodgers fell in five games to the Philadelphia Phillies in the NL Championship Series.
