White Sox offer SS Cabrera arbitration

Dec 2, 2008 - 5:30 PM CHICAGO (Ticker) -- The Chicago White Sox on Tuesday offered salary arbitration to shortstop Orlando Cabrera.

Cabrera, 34, hit .281 with eight home runs and 57 RBI in 161 games with the American League Central Division champion White Sox last season after being acquired from Anaheim last November for righthander Jon Garland.

As a type A free agent, Cabrera has until December 7 to accept the offer, or the White Sox will receive two draft picks as compensation.
