Indians sign RHP Ohka
Dec 5, 2008 - 5:14 PM CLEVELAND (Ticker) -- The Cleveland Indians on Friday signed righthander Tomo Ohka to a minor league contract and invited him to their major league camp in February as a non-roster player.Ohka, 32, owns a career record of 50-63 with a 4.14 ERA in 184 games - 172 starts - with four teams, most recently the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Japanese native spent the entire 2008 season with Charlotte of the International League, going 5-11 with a 4.18 ERA in 28 appearances after signing with the Chicago White Sox during spring training.
Ohka's best season came in 2002, when he was 13-8 with a 3.18 ERA in 31 starts with the Montreal Expos.
