Mavericks F Howard, Bucks G Williams named Players of the Week
Dec 26, 2006 - 9:20 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Dallas Mavericks forward Josh Howard and Milwaukee Bucks guard Mo Williams on Tuesday were named the NBA Players of the Week for the period ending Sunday.Howard averaged 22.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 2.0 blocks to lead the Mavericks to victories in all three of their games last week.
It was the first career weekly honor for the 6-7 Howard, who is collecting 18.7 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game this season.
Williams captured Eastern Conference honors in leading the Bucks to a trio of wins. The 6-1 guard averaged 25.7 points, 8.7 rebounds and 6.7 assists during that stretch. He recorded his first career triple-double in Wednesday's victory over the Miami Heat, collecting 19 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists.
A four-year veteran, Williams is enjoying a breakthrough season, averaging career highs of 17.3 points, 5.4 rebounds and 6.4 assists.
