Mavericks F Howard, Bucks G Redd named Players of the Week

Jan 2, 2007 - 9:51 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) - Dallas Mavericks forward Josh Howard and Milwaukee Bucks guard Michael Redd were named NBA Players of the Week on Tuesday, each for the second time this season.

Howard was the Western Conference winner for the second straight week. He averaged 21.5 points, 10.8 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.3 blocks in helping Dallas win four games and extend its winning streak to 10.

Howard had 28 points, 17 rebounds, five assists and three blocks in an 89-85 win at Denver on Sunday.

Redd received Eastern Conference honors for the second time this season, also winning for the period from November 27-December 3. Last week, he averaged 27.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists in helping the Bucks to a 3-1 record.

Redd had a 36-point outburst in a win at San Antonio a week ago. He supplanted backcourt mate Mo Williams, who won the award last week.

Other nominees included Detroit's Richard Hamilton, Houston's Tracy McGrady, Milwaukee's Andrew Bogut, Cleveland's LeBron James, Phoenix's Steve Nash and Amare Stoudemire, Sacramento's Mike Bibby and Washington's Gilbert Arenas.
