MIAMI (Ticker) -- The Miami Heat re-signed veteran forward Dorell Wright on Thursday.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the South Florida Sun-Sentintel reported that the deal is for two years, with the first year valued at approximately $2.9 million.
The 19th overall draft selection in 2004, Wright became a key member of the Heat's rotation last season. He appeared in 44 games - 34 starts, averaging a career-high 7.9 points and 5.0 rebounds before suffering a season-ending knee injury.
With the Heat adding rookie Michael Beasley, the second overall draft pick, to the frontcourt and the expected return of a healthy Dwyane Wade, Wright likely will come off the bench this season as a top reserve.
Wright's best performance last season was a 19-point, 18-rebound effort in a December 7 road loss to the Golden State Warriors.
