George, who turns 31 years old Friday, averaged 3.7 points in 53 games for the Mavs last season while coming off the bench.
New Mavs coach Rick Carlisle said one of the club's priorities this season was to re-sign George, who won three titles with the Los Angeles Lakers earlier in his career.
