NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose and Memphis Grizzlies swingman O.J. Mayo were named the NBA's Rookies of the Month for November, the league announced Monday.
Selected first overall after leading the University of Memphis to the national title game as a freshman last season, Rose ranks first among all Eastern Conference rookies in scoring average (18.4), assists (6.0) and minutes (38.0).
Mayo, who was taken third by Minnesota and later traded to Memphis, is off to an outstanding start, leading all rookies in scoring at 21.9 points per game. He owns the highest scoring average for a first-year player since Allen Iverson averaged 23.4 points in 1996-97 for the Philadelphia 76ers.
