PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- Philadelphia 76ers forward Elton Brand has a strained right hamstring and will miss Friday's game against the Detroit Pistons.
The Sixers announced the injury Thursday, stating that Brand is day-to-day. Brand, who underwent an MRI, did not travel with the team to Detroit.
Brand suffered the injury during Wednesday's 114-102 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. The Sixers did not know exactly when Brand sustained the injury; the two-time All-Star informed the team of the injury midway through the third quarter.
Philadelphia's leading scorer and rebounder, Brand clearly was limited by the injury, finishing with a season-low three points and five rebounds in under 26 minutes.
Brand has averaged 16.7 points and 10.0 rebounds in 19 games this season with the underachieving Sixers (8-11), who will enter Friday's contest in last place in the Atlantic Division.
Philadelphia signed Brand to a five-year, $80 million contract this past offseason.
