MINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) -- Minnesota Timberwolves swingman Mike Miller received good news regarding his injured right ankle.

An MRI taken Thursday came back negative, meaning that Miller could potentially play in Friday night's game against the New Jersey Nets.

Miller suffered the injury in the third quarter of Wednesday's 100-89 loss to the Orlando Magic. He was helped off the court and taken to the locker room before returning to the contest later in the second half.

Although he woke up Thursday with swelling in the ankle, Miller sounded optimistic regarding the injury.

"I got lucky," Miller said.

Acquired in an offseason trade with the Memphis Grizzlies, the 6-8 Miller has averaged 11.5 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.4 assists in 17 games this season.
