Bulls G Rose cuts arm; expected to play Tuesday

Dec 8, 2008 - 9:00 PM CHICAGO (Ticker) -- Chicago Bulls rookie guard Derrick Rose needed 10 stitches in his arm after a freak accident Monday morning, but he is not expected to miss any time.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Rose rolled over onto a knife he was using to carve an apple while in bed.

"It was a silly accident," Rose told the newspaper. "I panicked when it first happened, but then talked to my trainer and got it stitched up at 8 a.m."

The first overall pick in June's draft, Rose is expected to play against the New York Knicks on Tuesday. WSCR-AM first reported the story.

The 20-year-old is second among rookies in scoring, averaging 18.5 points and 6.1 assists in 20 games.
