Bryant, James named Players of the Week

Dec 29, 2008 - 9:18 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant helped end the Boston Celtics' historic run. On Monday, he was honored for his impressive week.

Bryant and LeBron James were named Western and Eastern Conference Players of the Week, respectively.

Bryant led the Lakers to a 4-0 mark this past week by averaging 30.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists.

In a rematch of last June's NBA Finals, Bryant helped end the Celtics' franchise-record 19 game winning streak on Christmas Day by recording 27 points, nine rebounds and five assists in a 92-83 triumph.

James averaged 26.0 points, 6.7 assists, 6.7 rebounds and 2.0 steals in leading the Cavaliers (26-4) to a 3-0 week and their best start in franchise history.

Thanks to "King James," the Cavaliers are 16-0 at Quicken Loans Arena and remain the only team unbeaten at home.

James scored 33 points and tallied six rebounds and nine assists in a come-from-behind win 93-86 win over Miami on Sunday.

Other players nominated were, Miami guard Dwyane Wade, Orlando forward Rashard Lewis, Cleveland guard Mo Williams, Charlotte forward Gerald Wallace, Atlanta guard Joe Johnson, Detroit guard Rodney Stuckey, Houston center Yao Ming, Oklahoma City forward Kevin Durant, San Antonio guard Tony Parker and Toronto forward Jermaine O'Neal.
