Magic F Pietrus out with broken wrist

Dec 31, 2008 - 9:45 PM CHICAGO (Ticker) -- Mickael Pietrus and the Orlando Magic just got some more bad news.

Just 10 days after the valuable forward returned to the floor following a torn ligament in his thumb, Pietrus suffered a fractured wrist that will keep him out indefinitely. According to multiple published reports Wednesday, the sixth-year veteran underwent an MRI exam on Tuesday that revealed the fracture.

He suffered the injury in Monday's loss to Detroit, falling hard on his right arm after colliding with Pistons forward Jason Maxiell on a dunk. He left the floor and did not return to the game, but the initial news was good - X-rays revealed that there was no structural damage.

Pietrus missed 10 games earlier this month with the thumb injury before returning on December 20 in a victory over the Los Angeles Lakers.

The 6-6, 215-pound Pietrus has been one of Orlando's strongest role players, averaging a career-high 11.7 points while shooting 46 percent from the floor, including 37 percent from 3-point range. This is his first season with the Magic following five years with the Golden State Warriors, who drafted him with the 11th overall selection in 2003.
