Cavaliers C Ilgauskas out 3-4 weeks
Jan 3, 2009 - 6:16 PM CLEVELAND (Ticker) -- Cleveland Cavaliers center Zydrunas Ilgauskas will miss three to four weeks with a bone chip in his ankle, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. The newspaper reported the story prior to Friday's 117-92 win over Chicago.
The 7-3 Ilgauskas suffered the injury in a win over Philadelphia on December 10. Ilgauskas is averaging 13.8 points and 7.1 rebounds in 28 games this season.
Anderson Varejao, who scored a career-high 26 points and eight rebounds in Friday's win, is expected to assume Ilgauskas' starting role for the time being.
"It's going to be tough," Cavaliers forward LeBron James said after Friday's win. "Guys have to pick it up. We've got a veteran ballclub and we've got enough guys who can come off the bench and really play. We're going to see who can step up."
