Clippers waive G Jones, F Davis
Jan 5, 2009 - 10:13 PM LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles Clippers on Monday waived forward Paul Davis and guard Fred Jones.A 2006 second-round pick, Davis has appeared in 80 games with the Clippers, averaging 2.2 points and 2.0 rebounds. The Michigan State product averaged 4.0 points and 2.5 rebounds in 27 games this season.
Jones, the 2004 Slam Dunk champion, averaged 6.6 points in five games with the Clippers after signing with the team eight days ago.
In another move Monday, the Clippers acquired center Cheikh Samb from the Denver Nuggets in exchange for a future conditional second-round draft pick.
A native of Senegal, Samb played in six games with the Nuggets this season, averaging 0.7 points and 1.5 rebounds.
Samb will be joining his third team in just over two months. He began the season with Detroit, but was traded to the Nuggets on November 3 in the deal that brought Allen Iverson to the Pistons.
