Anthony fractures hand vs. Pacers

Jan 6, 2009 - 6:39 AM DENVER (Ticker) -- Denver Nuggets star forward Carmelo Anthony suffered a probable non-displaced fracture of the third metacarpal on his right hand in the third quarter of Monday's win over the Indiana Pacers.

Anthony will see a hand specialist Tuesday to determine his status going forward.

"Right now, you've got to be concerned because you don't really know what exactly is going on until tomorrow," Anthony said. "I'm going to go see a hand specialist tomorrow probably before practice or after practice and see what happens."

He appeared to suffer the injury when Pacers center Jeff Foster slapped his hand while going for the basketball and caused the All-Star forward much discomfort, especially from the line.

"Out there I didn't have any feeling whatsoever. It was just numb," said Anthony, who collected 21 points, nine assists and six rebounds in the game. "As you can tell, I shot that free throw and it was an air ball. It was just numb out there. I won't know the results until tomorrow. It's sore and stiff right now.

"I'm pretty sure it's going to hurt like (heck) tomorrow. Of course, it would hurt to sit out any games. But I got confidence in my guys if it comes down to that. The good thing is we're home and we've got our crowd. We're feeling good right now. We're playing good basketball."
