Warriors assistant Moncrief heading to China
Jan 8, 2009 - 8:37 PM OAKLAND, California (Ticker) -- Golden State Warriors assistant coach Sidney Moncrief has accepted a position with the Beijing Ducks of the Chinese Basketball Association, the team announced Thursday.Moncrief, 51, will serve the Ducks as a consultant, which will entail various responsibilities, including the mentoring of the team's coaching staff.
"This is a tremendous opportunity for me," Moncrief said. "I have worked with members of the Chinese Basketball Association in the past and look forward to expanding my horizons and sharing my basketball knowledge."
A five-time NBA All-Star during his 11-year NBA career, Moncrief originally joined the Warriors as a shooting coach prior to the 2007-08 campaign.
