Legendary Carril returns to Kings as consultant
Jan 9, 2009 - 1:06 AM SACRAMENTO, California (Ticker) -- Hall of Fame coach Pete Carril is back with the Sacramento Kings.Carril, who was an assistant coach with the Kings in 2006, will rejoin the club as a consultant.
"Coach Carril brings a lot of winning experience and knowledge about basketball in general," interim coach Kenny Natt said. "As a young head coach, I will be able to utilize his experience and knowledge about getting the best out of our players. I'm looking forward to his input. It's exactly what I need at this point."
The 78-year old Carril won 13 Ivy League titles and made 11 NCAA tournament appearances during his 30 years at Princeton, posting the best record (525-273) in league history. Carril was inducted in the Hall of Fame in September 1997.
Carril previously spent 10 seasons as an assistant coach with Sacramento, specializing in individual player development and offensive schemes starting in 1996-97.
