Virginia G Singletary to stay in school
Jun 19, 2007 - 1:04 AM CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia (Ticker) -- Virginia guard Sean Singletary announced on Monday that he has withdrawn his name from the NBA draft and will return to school for his senior season.The 6-0, 185-pound Singletary averaged a team-leading 19.0 points and 4.7 assists during his junior campaign with the Cavaliers and finished second in the Atlantic Coast Conference in both 3-pointers (79) and free-throw percentage (.872).
"I considered all of my options and discussed them with my family and Coach (Dave) Leitao," Singletary said. "I believe this decision is the best one for me. I look forward to returning to Virginia for my final year, continuing my education and playing another season with my teammates."
"Obviously I'm delighted that Sean has decided to return to Virginia for his final year," Leitao said. "He means so much to our team and I'm pleased he'll be with us this coming season."
The NBA draft will be held in New York on June 28.
