Udoh to transfer from Michigan
May 6, 2008 - 3:48 AM ANN ARBOR, Michigan (Ticker) - Ekpe Udoh is leaving the Michigan basketball program.Coach John Beilein on Monday announced that Udoh plans to transfer, although the junior forward is undecided on which school he will attend.
The 6-10 Udoh led the Big Ten Conference with 92 blocked shots last season. In just two seasons, he has 159 career blocks - fifth on the school's all-time list.
"Ekpe is a fine young man, and we thought he made tremendous improvements throughout the season," Beilein said. "I will miss Ekpe as a person and as a player, and we hope success will follow him in his future endeavors."
Udoh averaged 5.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.4 blocks in 67 games, including 31 starts for the Wolverines.
"This was a very difficult decision for me," Udoh said. "I just feel I need to explore other options right now. I had a wonderful experience at Michigan, and I want to thank everyone for helping me the last two years. I wish them nothing but success in the future."
