Central Michigan reinstates F Van
Nov 6, 2008 - 11:35 PM MT. PLEASANT, Michigan (Ticker) -- Forward Marcus Van was reinstated to the Central Michigan men's basketball team, coach Ernie Zeigler announced Thursday. The move by the Chippewas comes nearly two weeks after Zeigler had dismissed him for a violation of team rules.
However, Van was able to work his way back into the good graces of Zeigler, agreeing to a set of conditions that will include a six-game suspension at the start of the season.
"The opportunity to be a student-athlete at Central Michigan University is a privilege," Zeigler said. "In the last week, Marcus has demonstrated a better understanding of what is expected from members of our program."
Last season, the 6-7 Van averaged 5.8 points and a team-leading 5.3 rebounds while appearing in 30 games, making 12 starts. He also ranked sixth in the Mid-American Conference with 1.1 blocks.
