UNC also may be without G Frasor for season opener

Nov 15, 2008 - 12:50 AM CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina (Ticker) -- With center Tyler Hansbrough already ruled out, North Carolina also could be without guard Bobby Frasor when it faces Pennsylvania in its season opener on Saturday.

Hampered by a sprained ankle, Frasor has been unable to practice since Monday.

A 6-3 senior, Frasor has not played since tearing the ACL in his left knee on December 27.

Although Frasor has a career average of 4.3 points, North Carolina coach Roy Williams knows his absence would be a major problem, especially with Hansbrough and Marcus Ginyard already sidelined.

"If Bobby doesn't play, that means our three best defenders won't be playing," Williams said. "Nobody does the things Bobby does. If you just look at his stats, it's not that big a loss. But he is head and shoulders above everyone else in seeing the big picture, and head and shoulders above everyone else in getting everyone where they're supposed to be on the defensive end."
