Kansas G Little breaks hand

Dec 17, 2008 - 4:34 AM LAWRENCE, Kansas (Ticker) -- Mario Little can't seem to catch a break.

The Kansas junior guard returned to the injury list after suffering a broken left hand in practice on Tuesday, the school announced.

Little got his hand caught in a teammate's jersey while changing direction, breaking the fourth metacarpal on his non-shooting hand. He could be sidelined for up to four weeks.

"It'll be two weeks before he could do anything realistically," Kansas coach Bill Self said. "His hand caught and pulled his fingers apart and broke it. As of now we'll splint it and hopefully he'll be back full speed real soon."

The 6-5 Little returned to the Jayhawks on December 5 after being sidelined with a stress fracture in his lower left leg since mid-October. He has yet to suit up for a game.

Despite the injury woes, Self has said that he does not plan on redshirting Little.

A junior college transfer, Little averaged 15.2 points and 5.5 rebounds with Chipola College last year.
