Syracuse reinstates G Devendorf
Dec 27, 2008 - 5:29 PM SYRACUSE, New York (Ticker) -- Syracuse guard Eric Devendorf has completed the necessary requirements to be reinstated to the university, coach Jim Boeheim said in a statement Saturday.Devendorf initially had been suspended for the remainder of the academic year for violating Syracuse's student code of conduct for allegedly hitting a girl in the face during an altercation in November.
However, the junior appealed and had the ban reduced to a minimum of six games by the university's appeal board. As part of his requirement to be reinstated, Devendorf had to perform 40 hours of community service.
Devendorf, who returned to practice Friday, is expected to play Tuesday against Seton Hall.
The 6-4 Devendorf is second on the the Orange in scoring at 13.9 points per game. Syraucuse (12-1), ranked 14th in the nation, went 2-0 in Devendorf's absence.
Devendorf, 21, was given a medical redshirt last season after tearing his left ACL on December 15, 2007.
