Georgia F Rowsey out for season
Feb 12, 2008 - 10:09 PM ATHENS, Georgia (Ticker) -- Georgia senior forward Rebecca Rowsey will miss the remainder of the season due to complications from a pre-existing knee injury, Lady Bulldogs coach Andy Landers announced Tuesday.Rowsey was a regular in Georgia's starting lineup for most of her career, starting 63 of her first 100 games. But her playing time has decreased of late due to the knee problems.
Rowsey will undergo a corrective procedure on Thursday to repair deteriorating cartilage in her right knee. She missed the entire 2005-06 season after tearing the ACL in the same knee during preseason.
"I'm disappointed for Rebecca that her senior year has to end like this," Landers said. "Rebecca epitomizes the type of commitment that you would like every basketball player to have."
Rowsey averaged 2.0 points in 21 games this season, starting five.
