Southern Cal S Ellison out 2-4 weeks

Oct 31, 2008 - 3:08 PM LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Southern California safety Kevin Ellison, the sixth-ranked Trojans' second-leading tackler, has a torn meniscus in his right knee and will be sidelined two to four weeks.

Ellison suffered the injury during an interception return midway through Thursday's practice. After tweaking his knee while attempting to plant his foot, the senior spent the rest of the workout on the trainer's table before being carted to the locker room.

"I feel really bad for the kid," USC secondary coach Rocky Seto told ESPN.com. "He just works so hard, but knowing him, I wouldn't be surprised if he makes it back faster than expected."

Ellison, who missed most of his freshman season after tearing two ligaments in his left knee, likely will be replaced by Will Harris when the Trojans host lowly Washington on Saturday.

Considered one of the top safeties in the country, Ellison has 41 tackles and one interception in seven games this season.

The Trojans (6-1) already are without starting cornerback Shareece Wright, who suffered a season-ending neck injury against Ohio State on September 13.
