Florida WR Harvin has sprained ankle

Nov 30, 2008 - 3:43 AM TALLAHASSEE, Florida (Ticker) -- Florida may be without Percy Harvin for next weekend's Southeastern Conference championship game against Alabama.

Harvin suffered a sprained right ankle in the second quarter of Saturday's 45-15 victory over Florida State.

Gators coach Urban Meyer was uncertain when asked about Harvin's status for next Saturday, when the third-ranked Gators take on the top-ranked Crimson Tide with a berth for the BCS championship game likely on the line.

"Our playmaker, Percy Harvin, has a sprained ankle," Meyer said. "We'll know more of the extent as we go forward."

Harvin sustained the injury during a running play midway through the second quarter. The sensational sophomore's ankle buckled when he was tackled by a pair of Seminoles.

After limping off the field and having his ankle examined on the sideline, Harvin was taken to the locker room late in the second quarter.
