Outlook improves for Florida WR Harvin

Dec 1, 2008 - 10:24 PM GAINESVILLE, Florida (Ticker) -- Florida coach Urban Meyer seemed more optimistic Monday that injured wide receiver Percy Harvin will be able to play in Saturday's Southeastern Conference championship game against top-ranked Alabama.

Harvin, who suffered a sprained right ankle in the second quarter of Saturday's 45-15 victory over Florida State, is still listed as questionable and did not practice Monday.

However, Meyer received a favorable report from Florida's training staff.

"A lot of thumbs up," Meyer said. "He plays well in this game, which he made clear to me over the past two days."

Harvin was the Most Valuable Player in Florida's 38-28 victory over Arkansas in the 2006 SEC championship game. He rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown and also had TD receptions of 67 and 37 yards.

The winner of Saturday's clash between the third-ranked Gators and top-ranked Crimson Tide will almost certainly earn a berth in the BCS title game.
