Big 12 dominates Walter Camp Award finalists

Dec 2, 2008 - 10:57 PM NEW HAVEN, Connecticut (Ticker) -- The five finalists for the Walter Camp Award were announced Tuesday, and four of them are from the Big 12 Conference - including three quarterbacks.

The signal-callers include Oklahoma's Sam Bradford, Texas' Colt McCoy and Texas Tech's Graham Harrell. That trio is joined by Texas Tech wide receiver Michael Crabtree.

The only non-Big 12 player on the list is Florida quarterback Tim Tebow, who is making a late charge to win his second straight Heisman Trophy.

Bradford led Oklahoma to an 11-1 record and a berth in the Big 12 championship game, passing for 4,080 yards and 48 touchdowns, which leads the Football Bowl Subdivision.

McCoy has thrown for 3,445 yards and 32 touchdowns while pacing the FBS with a 77.6 completion percentage.

Harrell ranks second in the FBS with 4,747 yards and 41 touchdowns.

Harrell's favorite target is Crabtree, who has caught 93 passes for 1,135 yards and 18 touchdowns, including a game-winning 28-yard TD in a 39-33 victory over then-No. 1 Texas on November 1.

Tebow is a Camp finalist for the second straight season, having led the Gators (11-1) to their second appearance in the SEC title game in three years.
