Texas Tech DB Sanders charged with dealing cocaine

Dec 4, 2008 - 7:40 PM LUBBOCK, Texas (Ticker) -- Texas Tech reserve defensive back De'Shon Sanders was arrested by federal agents Thursday and charged with dealing cocaine.

Sanders was arrested by U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agents without incident at 1:30 a.m. Thursday in downtown Lubbock, Texas.

DEA public affairs spokesman David Ausiello told PA SportsTicker that Sanders was charged with felony possession with intent to distribute in excess of 50 grams of cocaine.

Ausiello said Sanders was arrested at the 1800 Block of 19th Street in downtown Lubbock, and consented to a search at his apartment. No drugs were found, according to Ausiello.

The crime in question occurred between June 6-7 in Lea County, where Sanders' hometown of Hobbs, New Mexico is located. The 22-year-old Sanders is facing 10 years in prison if convicted.

Sanders, who is a roommate of All-American sophomore wide receiver Michael Crabtree, has four tackles in 12 games with the Red Raiders.
