Texas QB McCoy to return for senior year

Dec 8, 2008 - 8:20 PM AUSTIN, Texas (Ticker) -- Junior quarterback Colt McCoy feels he has unfinished business at Texas.

McCoy told the Austin American-Statesman on Monday that he will return to the Longhorns for his senior season in 2009.

"I'm not going anywhere," McCoy told the newspaper.

McCoy recently said he intended to seek out information on where he would stand if he opted to enter next year's NFL draft.

However, his decision to return to Texas was influenced by the Longhorns getting nosed out by Oklahoma for a berth in the BCS title game.

McCoy told the Statesman that he wants another shot at winning a national championship.

"I'm coming back because we have a solid coaching staff," he said. "And I'm coming back because I feel like I can develop the young receivers we have."

A leading candidate for the Heisman Trophy, McCoy led the third-ranked Longhorns to an 11-1 record and the Fiesta Bowl, where Texas will meet No. 10 Ohio State.

McCoy leads the Football Bowl Subdivision with a 77.6 completion percentage while passing for

3,445 yards and 32 touchdowns. He also was the Longhorns' leading rushing with 576 yards.
