USC FB Havili out for Rose Bowl

Dec 31, 2008 - 1:01 AM LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Southern California fullback Stanley Havili has been ruled academically ineligible for the Rose Bowl on January 1 against Penn State, coach Pete Carroll said Tuesday.

The sophomore is mainly used as a receiving threat out of the backfield, hauling in 24 receptions for 324 yards and three touchdowns this season. He also rushed for 71 yards on 13 carries.

Havili is expected to be replaced by Adam Goodman, D.J. Shoemate and Rhett Ellison, who likely will split time at the position.
