Missouri WR Maclin to announce decision Friday

Jan 8, 2009 - 8:18 PM COLUMBIA, Missouri (Ticker) -- Missouri redshirt sophomore wide receiver Jeremy Maclin will hold a press conference on Friday to announce whether or not he will enter the NFL Draft.

A projected first-round pick, Maclin is one of the fastest players in the nation. The 6-1, 200-pounder caught 102 passes for 1,260 yards and 13 touchdowns last season and was a threat to score on every punt and kickoff return.

Missouri confirmed to PA SportsTicker that there is a press conference scheduled for Friday morning. If Maclin is indeed NFL-bound, he went out with a bang.

A first-team All-American, Maclin caught a 7-yard TD pass to lift Missouri to a 30-23 overtime win over Northwestern in the Valero Alamo Bowl on December 29.

Maclin burst onto the scene as a freshman last season, compiling 2,776 all-purpose yards - a single-season freshman record. It was the fifth-most ever by any player in a season in the Football Bowl Subdivision.
